Slovenian Consumers` Association

Hello!
We are an independent consumer organization – an association, which helps to assert consumer rights. For sixteen years we have been informing, advising and representing our members’ interests and the interests of all consumers. We point out problems and demand regulations for various fields of consumer protection, such as general consumer protection, patients’ rights and dispute settlements in the field of finance and telecommunication. Over 70.000 individuals have turned to us for help and advice since the beginning of our activity. Modern consumers need much more information to make their decisions about shopping as they did in the past. Back then the competition for customers was not as tough as it is today, and we all thought that the state takes good care of our interests. The state does take care of the basic consumer protection, but is that enough? You only have your rights, if you know how to assert them.

That is why one of the most important tasks of our organization is to help consumers claim their rights and also to stimulate their criticism and pretentiousness.

Consumers in the developed countries formed an organization decades ago, which efficiently protects their interests in various fields. When facing big systems the voice of the consumer is not easily heard, but when they are united in a strong and professionally trained organization, they can become a partner in the negotiations, who cannot be ignored. That is why, in 1990, we established the Slovene Consumer Association, which actively represents the interests of consumers, which we can prove with our various achievements.

We have also been publishing an independent consumer magazine VIP for eleven years. Our activity is based on internationally accepted principles of the consumer movement. We are unprofitable and independent from the interests of political parties and suppliers of goods and services. That is also why our activity so far has gained the trust of many Slovenians, who have become our members. The only way we can be efficient and even stronger when representing your interests, is with a strong support from our members.

Your support is extremely precious for our work, both financially, as it provides an important part of our economic independence and also in another way: by giving us the very needed credibility to represent your interests when laws and regulations are formulated, when establishing relationships with suppliers of goods and services and big systems such as banks, insurance companies, educational system, communal services, other public services, and also last, but not least, with the government.
